It's a Small, Small World.......
Since the last time I wrote, I have kissed Mickey Mouse, been splashed by Shamu the whale, and made many new friends with young ladies from all across our Nation. The world really seems smaller; at least in America, as I met many of the 52 contestants, making special friendships and sharing stories of our adventures since we were crowned. Getting to know each titleholder, hailing from all over this great nation, each with incredible experiences, made me feel such a part of this special MAO sisterhood. It is truly an honor to be one among some of the most beautiful, talented, and hardworking young women in America today.
A special highlight of my week was attending the Miss Americas Outstanding Teen Pageant in Orlando, Florida. I was delighted to witness our very own, Mya Hipps, follow her dream and make the State of North Carolina proud. Mya was radiant on stage and sang with the voice of an angel. I wish all MNC fans could have been there to see her perform. On a personal note: Mya, you are truly a wonderful Sister Queen, and I could not be more proud of you. May God continue to bless you in all of your endeavors throughout your reign.
Along with the other contestants, Mya and I enjoyed a Fifties Sock Hop that proved to be fun for all ages, even the youngest of attendees. Our Carolina Princesses, Miss Remy Young and Miss Charli Rosenberg proved to be the real contenders in the Hula-Hoop contest. They were the true stars of the event.
The week concluded with a meeting for the Miss America contestants in conjunction with the Miss America Organization and TLC. Although each Miss America contestant will miss more than three weeks of involvement in their respective states, we all share the common bond that the Reality Show, filmed in Los Angeles, will truly be a once in a lifetime opportunity. I know we will continue to nurture friendships, which began in Orlando, that will last a lifetime. After meeting the Miss America and TLC personnel and veteran bodyguards, Rodney and Louis, I know that we all will be in good hands during our stay in California. I feel so fortunate to have this opportunity; however, I will miss North Carolina each and every day I am away.
A very special thank you to Isabella Grape of Wilmington and Gregory Ellenburg for helping me to be dressed fit for a queen during my week in Orlando. You give so much of your time, talents, and treasures to the Miss NC Organization, and for this I am so grateful.
After spending a magnificent week in Orlando and visiting the home of Walt Disney, I feel the following quote appropriate until next time:
"It's kind of fun to do the impossible." ~Author: Walt Disney
Working to make the impossible possible each and every day, I am....
