Marissa Garrison, Miss North Carolina’s Outstanding Teen 2017, is 16 years old and a junior at Stuart W. Cramer High School. She is a competitive dancer at Barbie’s Encore Dance Productions in Mount Holly and is also the Captain of the Stormchasers Varsity Dance Team.

Garrison has promoted her platform, The Destiny Lives On Foundation, for the past two years. Throughout that time, she has raised over $4,000 to go to the families of organ donors and recipients to cover medical expenses by organizing and hosting the “Sharing Talent, Giving Life” benefit talent show. She has encouraged hundreds of individuals to become organ donors and will continue to do so with the state title. To become an organ donor, visit www.lifesharecarolinas.org!

During the 2017 MNCOTeen competition, Garrison performed her self-choreographed, contemporary dance routine to “Opportunity” and was a double preliminary winner in Talent and Evening Gown/Onstage Question.

Marissa will go on to compete for the title of Miss America’s Outstanding Teen in Orlando, FL in July. Follow her journey by giving the Miss North Carolina’s Outstanding Teen Facebook page a like and by following her Instagram account, @maoteennc! You can also follow her on Twitter at @MAOTeenNC!
